Founded in September 2019, MobiKlinic is a health-tech organisation whose vision is to revolutionize access to health care by utilizing a fusion of physical and digital means. Through a network of community health workers equipped with the MobiKlinic app, the organisation has been providing community-based health services through routine door to door home visits and routine community outreaches mostly in rural, and urban slum communities. The MobiKlinic app aids community health workers to record patient data, swiftly identify patients & retrieve their data by means of biometrics technology and acts as a digital safety net providing two options of consultation community health worker that are an AI chatbot and a direct link to a distant physician. Starting in the rural communities of Buikwe, Mobiklinic has since expanded to Kampala and Mukono in Uganda, and Kisumu in Western Kenya. To date 25,000 people have received health services through MobiKlinic
MobiKlinic identifies and trains community health professionals on key health issues particularly those that affect women such as maternal care, communicable diseases like HIV, family planning etc. Successfully trained community health professionals are The CHPs are deployed in the community with an android phone that contains the MobiKlinic application. This application acts as a digital safety net to ensure quality of services provided. When a CHP comes into contact with a patient, details such as the patient’s age and symptoms experienced by patient are recorded and each patient is assigned a unique code by the system. Should a CHP find a challenge with handling a patient’s case, the CHP can: 1. Contact a distant physician via text or phone call through the MobiKlinic application and obtain guidance on how to treat the patient. 2. Ask a question to an AI chatbot that is built in the MobiKlinic application and promptly receive guidance on how to handle a patient. Our community health professionals work closely with community health centers that we collaborate and these health centers act as referral points for patients in the community that our community health professionals may come into contact with. In turn MobiKlinic has developed an e-learning platform that contains health related courses that educate women on matters pertaining to their maternal and sexual reproductive health
