FAQ

The Africa Tech Startup Forum is a pilot project spanning 8 African countries: Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Nigeria, and Ghana. While our initial scope couldn’t encompass all 55 African countries due to budget constraints, we aspire to expand our reach in the future. As this is a pilot project, we aim to demonstrate success and pave the way for the inclusion of more African countries in the future.

Selected ventures will need to sign a commitment letter agreeing to the program’s conditions and full requirements for participation.

The first cohort will comprise 160 selected ventures participating in the UVUA Africa training and acceleration program, along with all virtual matchmaking sessions.

The second cohort will be chosen from the first cohort. The top 20 ventures will be selected to advance their growth through a study tour to South Korea and attend the COME UP KOREA event in December 2024.

Participating in the acceleration program will provide ventures with access to training, mentorship from industry experts, networking opportunities, connections to funding and resources to help grow and scale your businesses.

The program runs from May until December 2024

First Cohort – May until September

Second Cohort – May until December
There is no cost for participation in the program for the first cohort

For the second cohort, travel costs to Korea will be covered. However, there may be additional expenses such as visa application fees, extra food, and transport costs. These details will be outlined in the confirmation letter for the second cohort.

Ventures are  selected the acceleration programs through a competitive application process. Selection criteria may include the strength of the ventures’s team, the viability of their product or service, and their potential for growth and scalability.

After the program ends, ventures are expected to continue growing their businesses with the support and resources they have gained during the program.
